Ragueneau Press was founded in 2021 to publish books on the arts – and nothing else. That means we are interested in ideas and thinking that promote creative and cultural expression and understanding, without favouring any one tradition, generation or civilization.
Ragueneau’s founders believe that the cultivation of learning, insight and original thinking will advance those values, judgments and beliefs that informed many of the greatest artistic achievements of the past. Learning from these is probably meaningful at a time when society in certain parts of Europe and the United States is turning to the dark.
We are particularly interested in music, film, theatre and the performing arts more generally, as well as painting, sculpture and design, literature (but not fiction, please), poetry and, even, culinary art (which does not, for us, include cook-books). Most importantly, we believe that the imagination, skill and genius of our forebears probably deserves authors with a similar range of talent.
We want to hear from writers as well as academics, researchers and specialists – anyone, in fact, with the knowledge, passion and ability necessary to convey their insight, enthusiasm and experience.
